Nursery and PreSchool

Nursery and PreschoolThe Nursery and Preschool Ministry is an integral part of Faith Baptist Church, located in the Hope Center. It is a cooperative effort between the church and the home, utilizing the efforts of both parents and the church body to effectively teach the children about Jesus Christ. Our ministry is Christ-centered. We desire to help parents in building strong, spiritual foundations in the lives of children to lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Your child will be prayed over. Our nursery team and volunteers pray for each child in attendance as they serve in each session. We believe the Word of God is the answer to the needs in our lives. Our Bible time is designed to help children discover what the Bible says, develop a love for God?s Word, and learn how to apply that truth to their lives. Our Nursery Team and volunteers are comprised of people who have trusted Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and desire to share the love of Jesus with our children. They are all background checked for your child's safety and your peace of mind. Members of the Nursery Team are CPR & First Aid Certified. We also work in teams of at least two (2) for the sake of accountability.Volunteer Opportunities
Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a child? Our volunteers partner with families to help lay an eternal foundation built upon the truth of God?s Word. Volunteers are needed on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evenings. We need all parents to volunteer if at all possible and prefer all members/long term attendees serve once a month as well. Please contact Nicole McCullough, Nursery Director for information or complete a volunteer application form and email it to "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in MY name welcomes ME; and whoever welcomes ME does not welcome ME but HIM who sent ME." - Mark 9:37Parent PagersHand-held vibrating pagers will be provided, one per family, to the parent signing in the child. Pagers are given to all infant and toddler's parents and are available upon request for parents of preschool children. If you have children in separate rooms, you will receive one pager, and the number will be assigned to each child. The parent who accepts the pager is to have it on himself/herself at all times when away from the child. If there is an emergency or any problem involving the child, the pager will vibrate and the parent will need to come to the room and ask about the problem. The pager's radius includes the church buildings. Therefore, if a parent leaves the premises while his or her child is in the Nursery or Preschool area, the pager will not be able to reach the parent.Lost & FoundPlease make sure that all of your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises. Lost and found items not claimed are donated after one month.NurseryWe welcome you and your child to this ministry of our church, for infants and toddlers up to age 2. We join with you in the vitally important task of the nurturing of your child's development. It is astonishing what few years a child is in the home and how little time our church has to minister to them as children. Due to this, we have created some goals to provide your child with the physical care and spiritual training that will grow the concept about the Church, God and Jesus. Our prayer is for each child to grow up in a Christian home, and for each of us to exhibit cooperation and understanding as we work together for the growth of your child. What to Bring When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items: - Two or three diapers - A complete change of clothes - Bottle of milk, formula or water (inform us if nursing and baby's schedule) - snack if child can't have the provided snacks (see snack section below) Please label all personal items (including pacifiers, bottles, sippee cups & jackets) with your child's first name before arriving at your child's class. This helps us keep track of your child's items. When You Arrive at Your Child's Room A Nursery leader will meet you at the door to receive your child, diaper bag and any other necessary items. At the time of check-in, your child will receive an adhesive nametag/ID label to be placed on the child's back, plus a label for the diaper bag & an ID receipt for you. **Please note on the child's ID label any information that will help in caring for your child, such as feeding and sleeping times or special needs. Allergy alert stickers are available as well. You will be given a pager that has an identifying number on it. The pager will vibrate, so please hold or wear the pager at all times. Please present the pager upon returning to your child's classroom. We will verify that your ID receipt matches the number on your child's nametag and then we'll release your child to you. A child will not be released to a parent without presentation of the pager and ID receipt (or photo ID). Children must be picked up by an adult over the age of 18. After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick goodbye and leave for Sunday School or Worship. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when a parent leaves. This does not last long and separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we will page you. What We ProvideSnacksSnack are provided for older infants and toddlers. Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, Bible thoughts and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind. The Bible is used in all classrooms. Each child takes home a sheet of what they learned and did that day so that families can extend teaching at home.Opportunities for Parents
We love children at Faith, and we want to make sure your family is cared for when you visit. We offer the Family Room for parents who choose to keep their young children with them during Worship, and need to step out with them. The room is the second door on your left as you enter the Worship Center. Parents may comfortably view the service on a television monitor while they tend to their infants.PreSchoolWe are excited to have you and your child join us within the nursery ministry of our church. They will learn basic biblical truths. Bible lessons follow the verses that were taught that day in the adult Sunday School classes, to provide for ease in discussion over the days learning. Songs are used to reinforce God's Word during each session and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind. The Bible is used in all classrooms. Each child takes home a sheet of what they learned and did that day so that families can extend teaching at home.Quiet TimeDuring quiet time each child sits or lays in their own space to reflect on the days lesson and to pray to God individually. Given the age and attention span, this is a short amount of time, but we feel it is important to teach that we all need to spend some one-on-one time with the Lord daily.Heading HomeWe close each session singing silly songs or playing simple games, so when you arrive to pick up your child it may seem a bit rowdy. Please know that we have spent the time not only in God's Word but having a lot of fun too! One of the workers will match your ID receipt to your child's ID label, retrieve any belongings brought that day and release the preschooler into your care. A child will not be released to a parent without presentation of the pager (if one was issued) and ID receipt (or photo ID). Children must be picked up by an adult over the age of 18.
